Surgical Treatment of the Breast / Breast Surgical Oncology

Dr. Roeder specializes in the surgical treatment of the breast for both breast cancer and benign breast abnormalities. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and is certified as a Diplomate by the American Board of Surgery (DABS). She is also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.

Throughout her career, she has been committed to professional development and lifelong learning. Through a continual process of education and training, Dr. Roeder keeps her surgical skills current with the latest technological advancements in her field, which means that she can provide the highest level of quality care for her patients; both those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, and patients who have a non-malignant abnormality of the breast.

As part of that commitment, her practice has been designated as a “center of excellence” for placement of the SAVI device for brachytherapy. This breast conserving treatment has been shown to be highly effective in the delivery of radiation treatments to a targeted area, minimizing the risk for side effects and providing excellent cosmetic results. These highly precise and individualized treatments are done twice per day for five days.

While Dr. Roeder has seen many changes in both the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, yet she remains passionate about patient education for early awareness. She explains that when breast cancer is detected at earlier stages when effective treatment of the disease is at its highest, patient outcomes are greatly improved.
